Travel to Papallaca

Discover just 1.5 hours from the city of Quito the perfect retreat offering relaxation and one-of-a-kind sceneries. In the morning visit the unique bird sanctuary of Guango Lodge where orchids hang from mossy branches and an abundance and diversity of hummingbirds and other species offer great photo opportunities. You will surely want to taste some of the trout specialty of the region for lunch before heading over to the to Papallacta Hot Springs!

Papallacta hydrothermal pools

In the afternoon indulge yourself in soothing hydrothermal pools found at the base of 2 volcanoes with water temperatures varying from 30°C to 70°C (86°F – 158°F). The thermal waters are rich in minerals and sulfates that originate from enclosing natural resources, which not only appease your body with warm temperatures, but also contain a range of curative properties. We can also set up optional spa treatments at an additional cost for the ultimate relaxation experience.

Antisana Volcano

La-MicaAfter breakfast we will leave in the direction of the Antisana volcano and spend the morning at picturesque Antisana Mica Lake. This wildlife habitat is home to the Andean Condor and offers up majestic views of Mica Lake and the Antisana Volcano. Follow your guide through hidden pathways and mountain trails in this quiet private reserve and experience the beauty and wonder of Ecuador’s natural landscapes on this family-friendly hike. Travelers will likely spot horses, reindeer and condor on the hike, which is followed by lunch in a local restaurant (at your own expense). Check out the famous condors nesting from one of the nearby telescopes before returning to your Quito hotel.
